Procedures for Construction of Dental Prosthetics - Implant Overdentures

In order to construct an implant overdenture, it is essential to distinguish completely from partially edentulous patients. The rehabilitation of partially edentulous patients does not differ much from that of conventional fixed prosthetics. Therefore, we focus on completely edentulous cases, as the rehabilitation process is somewhat more complex due to the total absence of some parts.

For the initial stage of the treatment the laboratory requires, as well as the dental impressions, the occlusal record through baseplate.

Restorations of fixed and removables require previous trial dentures to determine the Vertical Dimension, Esthetics and the accurate Occlusion.

Once the trial denture is satisfactory, we can proceed to the construction of the metallic rim supported by implants over the master model, improving it later by making impressions with transfer posts and caps. It is convenient to try such appliance to guarantee the passive positioning of the implants, and this is so whether dealing with a fixed prosthetic either screwed or cemented, or the use of bars for mucous-supported prostheses.

Finally, the treatment concludes by placing the esthetic material over the appliance. Porcelain or acrylic for the restoration of Fixed and polymerised and integration of the corresponding retention components (rings, spherical attaches, etc) for mucous-supported prosthetics.
